What will I learn?
By obtaining a health insurance license, a health insurance professional is authorized to evaluate and provide coverage for individual
and eligible groups through a variety of health insurance policies. Health insurance policies offer protection for medical and dental
expenses, loss of income due to a disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and the need for long term care.
To become licensed as a health insurance producer, you will need to demonstrate entry-level knowledge of the industry by passing a state
licensing exam. This course will deliver the content needed to successfully complete the education and examination requirements.
Testable topics include:
General insurance concepts, insurance contract terminology, types of medical expense plans,
Managed care plans, Medicare supplement plans, disability income insurance, long-term care, policy provisions, clauses and riders,
Medicare, Medicaid, the application and underwriting process, preexisting conditions, federal taxation considerations, and federal
initiatives under the Affordable Care Act. This course also includes state-specific regulations based on the state where you are
applying for a license.
